Link Building With Google Code(Nofollow)

December 4  |  Link Building  |   Ryan Clark

Before I write this post I’m warning everyone that the potential to spam this resource is here and I urge you to only make use of Google Code if you have software that’s open source and Google API related. You don’t want to end up spamming this resource which is owned by Google….I can’t imagine it would go well for you. I’ve been doing some link building for a client that has software and noticed his competitor had a very authitative back link from code.google.com which was nofollow but anchor text friendly. This is a resource for Google API developers and also offers hosting that provides revision control using Subversion.

So this was taken from the project AIMlbot4glider and you can see how a page is layed out for a project. So I know this is a nofollow link, but I’m a firm believer that it’s still beneficial from authitative sites….and this Google we’re talking about. So if you are programming something with the Google API be sure to setup a project page which should be done if the resource is there right?

Link Fish Media

December 2  |  Uncategorized  |   Ryan Clark

I’ve got my plate full this month with clients and I wanted to start blogging about other companies that have got my respect, as well most of the industries as well. I am kicking off the new section to this blog entitled Link Building Companies, and it will showcase other great people who can get the job done right. First up is no stranger to the SEO and link building world and they go by the name of Link Fish Media. I always like to mention that this post was in no way paid for or suggested by Link Fish Media and is written out of respect for industry leaders who I think would be great to handle your campaign.

I first heard about the company through one of the owners, Julie Joyce, whom articles can be seen all over the web including Search Engine Land. It’s always good to familiarize yourself with a company before making the plunge, and going with people who are loud in the community gives you the opportunity to make a smart decision. The other half of Link Fish Media brings another well respected member to the table…I’m sure most of you have heard of Jay Young. You may have seen him speak at SES London, or read something on the SEO Blokes Blog.

Link Fish Media handles all aspects of link building from the initial building blocks right up to getting your viral content linked all over the web. Remember that these two have years of experience and what I like most is they take a unique approach to your link building campaign, and not just some cookie cutter directory submission and social bookmarking. So if you’re looking for professional link building then please get in touch with Link Fish Media.

The Link Building Cookbook By Collin Lahay

December 1  |  Link Building  |   Ryan Clark

I’m not sure why I didn’t think to make a post earlier about the best online resource for link building strategies. Collin Lahay has been blogging about link building for a couple years now and is without a doubt the most enjoyable blog to read on the topic. I’m almost preaching to the choir writing about this because I’m sure most of you have been following the Link Building Cookbook feaverously for the past year.

What is the Link Building Cookbook?

The Link Building Cookbook is a guide for webmasters to quickly find websites that they can get to link to their websites. In a nutshell, this guide provides hundreds of places to get to link to you so that you can get more search engine traffic in a lot less time than building links the standard way.

The Link Building Cookbook is updated very frequently, and features thousands of places where normal webmasters would not have thought they could build links to their website. This guide helps you find “the diamonds in the rough,” or in other terms, the best places to build links without paying heavy amounts of money.

Collin has 36 entries so far plus a few misc link building tactics for you to spend countless hours working on! The guide is full of mostly dofollow link building strategies and what I love about it is the fact you won’t find this information anywhere else. There are a ton of blogs out there dedicated to link building that offer nothing but philisophy and I know you all know that I hate that. So thanks for letting me rant and I hope you folks go and subscribe to his feed and enjoy the innovative ideas Collin brings forth. I also want to clarify this post was in no way paid or offered, it’s out of respect for the great information he’s worked at putting out there.

Link Building With Gooruze.com

November 30  |  Link Building, Social Networks  |   Ryan Clark

I recently discovered Gooruze.com which is an online social media profile that allows you to create a content rich bio for the world to see. Gooruze is do follow and allows you to add links in your bio, blog entries, articles and import your blog’s RSS feed right into the page. I really like the ease of the site and it’s a great way to network for business and friends online within the same niche. The software used to run the site feels like a mix of Linkedin and Squidoo which I really like! I’m going to be filling out my Gooruze profile today, so check it out to see what kind of options there are but beware my page isn’t quite fully loaded yet. I did notice a weird issue when filling out the bio…when you add links it formats it on a new line and I’m not sure why, so let me know if you get this issue as well.

Gooruze is here to help. A ranked advice community for online marketing professionals. The Gooruze difference is dedicated, ranked, quality information. The content is created by members who share real online marketing experiences and insights in the form of articles, answers and news. The content is tagged, rated and commented on by the community to deliver a constantly evolving online marketing knowledge base.

Gooruze is a great place to promote and create unique and quality content, so this is not a place for you to go and spam all the live long day. Please respect the website and although you can build quality links, make sure you’re contributing to the commuity at large. If you happen to produce some quality articles on there you can make the front page in many ways, just take a look at the picture in detail or visit the site. If you’re ready to join in on the fun over at Gooruze you can register here.

Exactfactor – Free Tool To Track Your SERPs

November 28  |  Link Building Tools  |   Ryan Clark

I’ve seen my fair share of keyword position tracking tools and here is another one to add to the list. Exactfactor is a free web 2.0 styled position tracker that has a bunch of nifty features that should please webmasters and SEO consultants alike. Exactfactor adds in some features that make it rival a few of the paid services out there and I really like the design of the site which makes it a pleasure to traverse.

Let’s start with the search engines shall we? First up you can obviously track on the big three, Google – Yahoo – MSN, but where it makes it extra cool is that you can specifically track by country code to get even more precise. This is great for me because I have a ton of clients residing in Canada and all I have to do is tick off .ca and I’m good to go. You can also setup weekly emailed reports that will keep you on point without having to visit the site so much, or easily update your clients.

If you’re wanting to keep track of drops or rises in your rankings you can set alerts with their latest feature. This alert system will also keep track of when you hit the first page, or when a competitor has passed you in the rankings. All in all this is a pretty cool free tool that is worth checking out!

Link Building With Gabbr.com

November 27  |  Link Building  |   Ryan Clark

I’ve been playing around with Gabbr.com lately and finally got around to posting about the site. Gabbr is a web 2.0 news, social bookmarking and networking tool that makes all these features great for finding like minded content and users. If you have good content you’ll really enjoy using this service because it encourages you to share you blog content in many ways. First up it lets you input your RSS feed which provides dofollow links, second you can submit individual blog posts or articles which are also dofollow and listed on your public profile. Gabbr has 16,000+ user pages indexed in Google so it looks like this service is picking up nicely! These features allow you to also get related news and eventually network socially to find like minded people in your niche. Another feature that takes Gabbr ahead of the rest is “attention based tracking” which monitors popular content throughout its network. I’ve quickly setup a page although the RSS feed option was giving me PHP errors at the present time, but take a look at my profile to see what I’m talking about. If you’re ready to participate head on over to the join page.

Website Promotion
Instead of having multiple blogs across multiple sites, Gabbr allows bloggers from all types of blogs to submit their blog entries for discussion in a centralized location. The blog entries are also mirrored on the original blog authors website. This cross promotion leads to an increase in the readership of all participating weblogs. The aim is to break down traditional online media barriers while creating constructive online communities. If your blogsite has its own RSS or Atom feed you can submit it to Gabbr so that others can read it thereby increasing the distribution of your site’s content.

Social Bookmarking Software & Tools

November 27  |  Link Building Tools, Social Bookmarking  |   Ryan Clark

I’ve been involved in creating a failed web based social bookmarking tool that was completely automated which never worked out fully. Most likely it was for the best because I can only imagine the evils that it would have been used for in the long run. There are a handful of useful social bookmarking tools and software out there so I thought I’d list off my favorites. Some of these sites pretty much do the same thing, it just all depends on how you like the method they use to lead you through a social bookmarking journey that will leave you asking, “Where the hell did my two hours go”.

Onlywire.com: I’ve used Only Wire for a couple of years now and it’s the easiest in regards to submitting without going to every site. I tried to create a tool modeled after this one except for one difference, it would submit to 100-150 social bookmarking sites instead of 30. Their new 2.0 release is nothing short of amazing except for the not so free pricing. You can use it for free under certain conditions, which are fair when you think of what it costs to host this tool. My favorite new feature is the API they release which you can integrate to auto submit everything from your website.

Socialmarker.com:I use this site when Socialposter is down which is more often than I’d like to admit. Social Marker offers a very easy to use interface for submitting your content up to 48 of the most popular social bookmarking sites in 5 minutes or less. Take note of their option boxes especially if you only if you want to make sure you’re submitting to do follow sites only.

Socialmarking.com:This site is also just like Social Marker and Social Poster except you can submit easily up to 130 social bookmarking sites! I only discovered this from the Google Ad they bought on Social Marker, so cheers to that. It has pretty much the same in frame browser submit that makes it pretty easy to tear through 130 sites….I don’t recommend submitting to 130 or you’re just going to look like you’re spamming, and really you are.

SocialPoster.com: This is the site I use the most mainly beause I like the way the user interface handles the bookmarking. It submits to the same amount as Social Marker and is pretty much exactly the same in everyway. The one downside to this site is that is regularly goes down due to bandwidth or cpu consumption.
