Check Backlinks With Linkdiagnosis.com

I’ve been playing around with Link Diagnosis for the past few days and I like what I’m seeing so far. So what is it? Well thus far it is a free link analyzing tool that digs out a whole bunch of data on the backlinks of any given domain. So far you cannot analyze a “deep link”, and only the main url at the moment, but from what I gathered on the Link Diagnosis Blog, that will be coming in the near future. This web based tool requires a Firefox plugin in order to calculate the anchor text used when linking, as well as other data it gathers. I highly recommend playing around with it yourself because you’ll quickly see what a nifty tool this is for seeing the data you need in a visual way.

So as for what does this tool all do? To start it analyzes all your backlinks via Yahoo’s Site Explorer, so no finicky Google reporting. The beauty of this tool is that it doesn’t count all the dozens, sometimes hundreds, of backlinks from a single domain which really don’t count. This makes for viewing everything much cleaner and faster! This tool also reports back with what anchor text you were linked from, and then makes a top list of all the anchor texts so you know what you need to work on. Link Diagnosis also uses a formula to give each page you are linked on a certain strength, quality score, trust rank…whatever you’d like to call it. The formula used for this is;

How is strength calculated?

PR=5 , 10 outgoing links
Power(5+1,3) / 10 = (6 power 3 ) / 10 = 216 / 10 = 22

Strength is calculated as follows:
\n Strength = Power(PR + 1,3) * 4 / links

Link Diagnosis also reports on what your top linked pages are as well as the strength of those pages. I’ve been really watching my anchor text distribution for good measure and this has made my life a lot easier. To top it all off you also get a couple of nice graphs that show you your pagerank distribution as well what percentage of links you are getting…as in good, meh and crap. I’ve taken a screenshot of a report on Linkbuildr.

So all in all I can’t wait for more from the folks who make this tool! I hope they come leave us all some comments on what’s going on lately. As I write this they are working on an updated free version, as well as a paid version which will have a bunch more features…none that I’m aware of. They’re looking for feedback so if you’d like to give them any, you can drop your comments at this blog post.

Exactfactor – Free Tool To Track Your SERPs

November 28  |  Link Building Tools  |   Ryan Clark

I’ve seen my fair share of keyword position tracking tools and here is another one to add to the list. Exactfactor is a free web 2.0 styled position tracker that has a bunch of nifty features that should please webmasters and SEO consultants alike. Exactfactor adds in some features that make it rival a few of the paid services out there and I really like the design of the site which makes it a pleasure to traverse.

Let’s start with the search engines shall we? First up you can obviously track on the big three, Google – Yahoo – MSN, but where it makes it extra cool is that you can specifically track by country code to get even more precise. This is great for me because I have a ton of clients residing in Canada and all I have to do is tick off .ca and I’m good to go. You can also setup weekly emailed reports that will keep you on point without having to visit the site so much, or easily update your clients.

If you’re wanting to keep track of drops or rises in your rankings you can set alerts with their latest feature. This alert system will also keep track of when you hit the first page, or when a competitor has passed you in the rankings. All in all this is a pretty cool free tool that is worth checking out!

Social Bookmarking Software & Tools

November 27  |  Link Building Tools, Social Bookmarking  |   Ryan Clark

I’ve been involved in creating a failed web based social bookmarking tool that was completely automated which never worked out fully. Most likely it was for the best because I can only imagine the evils that it would have been used for in the long run. There are a handful of useful social bookmarking tools and software out there so I thought I’d list off my favorites. Some of these sites pretty much do the same thing, it just all depends on how you like the method they use to lead you through a social bookmarking journey that will leave you asking, “Where the hell did my two hours go”.

Onlywire.com: I’ve used Only Wire for a couple of years now and it’s the easiest in regards to submitting without going to every site. I tried to create a tool modeled after this one except for one difference, it would submit to 100-150 social bookmarking sites instead of 30. Their new 2.0 release is nothing short of amazing except for the not so free pricing. You can use it for free under certain conditions, which are fair when you think of what it costs to host this tool. My favorite new feature is the API they release which you can integrate to auto submit everything from your website.

Socialmarker.com:I use this site when Socialposter is down which is more often than I’d like to admit. Social Marker offers a very easy to use interface for submitting your content up to 48 of the most popular social bookmarking sites in 5 minutes or less. Take note of their option boxes especially if you only if you want to make sure you’re submitting to do follow sites only.

Socialmarking.com:This site is also just like Social Marker and Social Poster except you can submit easily up to 130 social bookmarking sites! I only discovered this from the Google Ad they bought on Social Marker, so cheers to that. It has pretty much the same in frame browser submit that makes it pretty easy to tear through 130 sites….I don’t recommend submitting to 130 or you’re just going to look like you’re spamming, and really you are.

SocialPoster.com: This is the site I use the most mainly beause I like the way the user interface handles the bookmarking. It submits to the same amount as Social Marker and is pretty much exactly the same in everyway. The one downside to this site is that is regularly goes down due to bandwidth or cpu consumption.

SEO Keyword Ranking Tool Review

10 Comments
November 6  |  Link Building Tools  |   Ryan Clark

Well I’ve got so many clients to track keywords for, most of which don’t have a blog so I cannot use the WordPress plugins that would make this part of the job easier. But thankfully a fellow Linkbuildr reader and now friend, Will Reinhardt, gave me access to his SEO Keyword Ranking tool.  I asked if I could review it out of the kindness of my heart, so this in no way influenced by money what-so-ever(so f%$! off Google :).

This tool is for one thing and one thing only…tracking your position in the search engines. I’ve used a bunch of free tools, paid tools and doing it by hand but the simplicity of SEO Keyword Ranking takes the cake. The tool tracks all the major search engines and provides reports on a time schedule, depending on how you want it. The reports are handled two ways, one within your account and secondly, straight via email all packaged in a nice and easy to read report. This is great because I can send my clients the reports automatically without worrying about it, and if I ever need to review them they’re only a few clicks away.

So lets talk about the pricing. A lot of the other keyword rank tools out there cost quite a bit but you won’t have to worry about that here. William has included 3 different pricing structures, the first being 100% free and the ability to track 3 projects with 5 keywords per project. The standard package is only $9/month and allows you to track 10 projects with 50 keywords per project. The highest package available is only $24/month which tracks 20 projects and upto 200 keywords per project. I encourge you all to sign up for a free account and give it a whirl and then report back in the comments here.

Cons: These cons only effect you if you are using this for clients as well, and I can imagine would be a lot of you. First up I would like to see some sort of unlimited account option because I sometimes do work for 20 clients/projects a month and would quickly run out of space. Secondly I would REALLY like to see an option to send reports via email to my client as well, or just my client. This would allow me to sit back and not worry about sending reports…I’m kinda lazy sometimes! I doubled checked to make sure this feature wasn’t in there, and if it is and I missed it Will….I appologize.

SubmitEaze Version 8 Launches

2 Comments
August 27  |  Link Building Tools  |   Ryan Clark

When it comes to directory submission I usually don’t do it by the masses, but when I need to I can always rely on SubmitEaze. Version 8 has just been launched and there is no secret about this program, it just works like it should and can get very profitable if used properly. I think we can all agree how much submitting to directories sucks the big one, so any sort of automation is good in my books.

So what’s new with version 8? The one major feature that I should get out there first is its new “Turbo Submitting” feature which employs a browser-less interface, and instead displays the submission form as part of the graphical user interface. SubmitEaze can now submit to directories faster than before, but keep in mind that too many links too quickly will get you penalized in Google….so be a smart submitter. Here’s a look at the graphical interface;

SubmitEaze also now submits to over 4000 free directories, so remember to stick to ones within your niche because quality links is what counts. Version 8 also submits to article directories which helps kill two birds with one stone. Also on that note you can randomize titles and descriptions and anchor text which should all help make sure you have profitable SERP results by doing it the right way.

One Way Link Building Strategies

2 Comments
August 26  |  Link Building Tools  |   Ryan Clark

I was scouring Youtube for link building videos, and while having a good chuckle at some, there was a pretty good video series from the folks at Themematic. A lot of people have blogged and discussed methods of using social media websites such as Squidoo, Hubpages(etc etc etc) for the purpose of providing quality one-way links to your main websites. There’s almost no need to exchange links anymore with websites because there are so many one-way link building options out there, why bother?

So the folks at Themematic have put together a formula as well as a product to teach people how they go about constructing this network to gain top ranks. I thought the video was well put together and it is worth the watch if you’re currently not doing something like this.

About ThemeMatic Software

ThemeMatic Software was designed specifically to take advantage of the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques taught by Charles Heflin’s ‘The Master Plan’ and in conjuction with the team at Theme Zoom. After modifying an existing e-commerce site and creating another content site from scratch in accordance with ‘The Master Plan’, top ranking in Google was achieved very quickly. The need for a tool like ThemeMatic became blindingly obvious to us when top site rankings in highly-competitive markets became possible given the correct ‘Theme Density’, ‘Silo Site Structure’, ‘Internal Linking’, and removal of elements that cause ‘Theme Bleeding’. At the time that the ThemeMatic Software was being developed, there did not exist a single tool on the market that could achieve the above without massive manual effort on every page of one’s site (believe us, we tried it!)
