Podcast Link Building And Marketing Resources

I know a few others have already posted on link building with your podcast, so I’ll try and present some new ideas as well go in depth into others. A lot of people have had great success with a podcast alone, but there is another obvious benefit, and that is the one way link.

I don’t really like the Odiogo method because you’re essentially cluttering the web with the same content, and no one really wants to listen to a digital voice either. If you do a podcast properly within a niche that you care about or already an authority in, then the listeners will flock to you. I used to do an audio podcast that was music related a few years ago and it lasted about 6 months. The one thing I learned was that it was hard to maintain updating on a regular basis.

If you do happen to be podcasting for your company, niche or blog then there’s no harm in building strong links while attracting more listeners. There have already been lists of places to submit your podcast for links so I’m going to cover a few less mentioned ones that have popped up in the past year, and as well some oldies but goodies.

Adding a podcast to your online web presence which adds more credibility and substance to your overall “web pie”. Adding media like this is a great way to jump ahead of other people within in your niche, and will no doubt help with your rankings. If you’d like to do more to become a strong web presence look into making your website mobile, or adding a forum which lets the world(and Google) know you mean business.

PodBean.com is one of the webs largest podcast directories that has been around for years thus packs a lot of link weight.Once you’ve signed up to PodBean, you can then setup your custom podcast page with your feed, some content and of course dofollow links within the profile. If you keep up a regular show schedule it will help immensely in getting your podcast page indexed and pass on the much needed link love.

BlogTalkRadio.com is a really cool site I frequent for personal pleasure, not just lurking around in the dark like most link builders. The site has been around for a couple of years now and has seen a lot of growth lately in traffic and users. You get your own profile here and they are of course indexed by the search engines, but you have to be an active podcaster for this to be worth your time. Your episode guides can also contain links to important things you mention in the show, and they’re dofollow.

PodcastPeople.com is new to me and I scoped it out hours before writing this post, which makes me one of those link builders lurking in the dark. This site offers a whole suite of amazing tools at your podcasting disposal. On top of getting a dofollow link within your profile, you get your own subdomain to go along with a very content rich podcast page. With your page you get a sweet audio player for your podcast, comments from users and of course archives. The site’s setup is allowing some great internal linking so the pagerank is being siphoned nicely.

MyPodcast.com has been around for a few years and is another great source to spread your podcast. The podcast pages are a little messy and remind me of Myspace, but regardless you can build up a strong page with your content. You can write essentially a blog post with each episode which can include dofollow links, and your sidebar has a place for links to your resources as well.

Podomatic.com has been listed in other people’s posts before but I’m going to mention it still because it is a great site to host your podcast on. There are a lot of active listeners that take part in the site which gives it a huge bump in my mind. Remember that there are tens of thousands of podcasts already, so you want to make sure your page stays indexed. Putting up that great content and getting user interaction will almost guarantee it. Each podcast post can have links in it as well your get a place in the sidebar to link with, and both are dofollow.

Podnova.com is one of the cleanest podcast hosting sites I’ve seen on the market and its of course 100% free. The site has very little advertising on both the site and your podcast page, leaving you with a lot of room to put good content down. The format follows the same route as most others and allows dofollow links within the episode content and within your show profile.

Blubrry.com was new to me and caught my eye with not only a cool name, but a very clean minimal design. Your users podcast page is very clean with just the goods, each podcast episode with a nifty easy access iphone feature, and a guestbook for users to leave some feedback. You cannot choose your anchor text but you can get a dofollow link back to the “podcast homepage”, and most of the active pages had a pagerank of 4 or higher!

Mevio.com is the last item on the list and used to be the giant podcast site Podshow.com. If you’ve never been here before I urge you to take an hour or two to browse some shows, because this is where high quality and podcasting come together. You get your own subdomain with your podcast account and one very sexy looking design. Mevio seems to be taking advantage of a nice internal linking structure on their own, so the pages seem to get crawled quite a bit. They have just about half a million pages indexed! Other than that, you can get a link back to your project homepage, and it is dofollow!

Thanks for reading the post and I hope you found it useful. There are dozens upon dozens of other great podcast hosting sites you can use for link building, but they’ve been covered before by other good bloggers. I’ll link to some other resources that should help fill in the gap and keep you busy for hours to come.

Paid Directories For Link Building

March 3  |  Link Directories  |   Ryan Clark

A lot of you may never had paid for inclusion in a directory, and the other lot of you know the benefits of the key players still left on the market. Directory links are sometimes iffy business these days, so is there anything left paying for? To keep it short the answer is yes, but let’s take a closer look at which I think are worth paying for.

Some of you may be business owners, or SEO consultants, but there are a few things you have to keep in mind before paying for inclusion. The most authoritative and quality directories left with a lot of traffic, good Pagerank and link juice are mostly directories you pay for. Over the past couple of years I’ve kept most of my directory link building within the niche of the client, and only submit to the few quality directories in their market. I’ve never bothered with directory submitting software mainly because I believe in quality over quantity.

Some of these directories listed below will most likely always show up in the backlink profiles of people ranking for the toughest keywords on the web. I’m not saying they’re god’s gift to ranking well, but it really does say something about the quality of your website if you have some of these backing you. One of the major thing I’ve seen over my years is that you’ll quickly notice your search engine position stops bouncing around so much. If you’re a new site, these are also a great first step in getting past the hurtles of ranking in a crowded marketplace.

The Yahoo Directory – This is the most well known paid directory that most serious businesses online will have included themselves in. The Yahoo directory provides you with a very juicy dofollow link that I recommend to all my clients. The price for a review into the directory is $299 per year and recurring fee’s every year after that.

Business.com Directory – If you’re running a business then this is the ultimate first step in gaining trust within the search engines. This directory has been running strong for a decade, and with that age and trust comes one powerful backlink. The price for this directory is $299 USD with a recurring fee of $299 USD yearly.

V7N Directory – The v7n webmaster community has been a great asset to the online community, and their web directory has stood the test of time. The directory requires a human review so only quality sites should be submitted to the directory. The cost is a one time fee of only $49 USD which is fair cost for the quality submission. Submit your site now.

Best Of The Web – This is one of the oldest web directories on the block and has out lasted anything in its path. They’ve kept things fresh by keeping a very clean directory, as well making two additions to the site. Those two additions being the blog directory and local search directory. The price is also right at BOTW, you can either pay a yearly fee of $99 USD, or a one time fee of $250 USD which will last a lifetime. Click Here To Submit To BOTW.

Aviva Directory – This directory is another oldie and a goodie. Running for almost 6 years now, the Aviva Directory has provided a clean and quality web directory that has long since been reckognized as an authoritative directory.  They have two different listing options with the first bring only $49.95 USD yearly for a regular link. The second being $74.95 yearly for a premium listing which gets featured at the top of the category. Click Here To Submit.

Massive Links Directory – This is another great web directory that has seen a lot of traffic growth over the past 6 months. So not only are you getting link juice from this site, you should see a steady flow of web traffic as well. The directory is surprisingly clean and full of medium to high quality sites only, so don’t submit a lousy site.

JoeAnt.com Directory – Going on its 10th year in business, this web directory holds a Pagerank of 6 and has a ton of quality traffic. Listing within this directory is only $39.99 one time fee which is a killer deal for what you get. Submit Your Site Now.

WhatUseek Directory – This directory has been online since 1996! They hold a Pagerank of 7 and is still one of the top sites on the web. Your link in this directory is very juicy and well worth the price to get in. You’re looking at only $24.99 for a regular listing, or you can pay more for a review within 2 business days. There is a yearly recurring fee of only $14.99 and you can submit your site here.

Family Friendly Sites – A web directory composed of you guessed it, family friendly websites only. This directory has been running for 9 years and holds a Pagerank of 6. This is another high quality directory you can get a juicy link from starting at only $19.95/year for a basic listing, $49.99 for a permanent listing and $59.95 for a yearly premium listing. One of my readers tipped me off to this site which every Real Estate Agent should find useful, and should be listed on. RealEstateAgentProfiles.com may have a long domain name, but it gets right to the point. Link building in the Real Estate industry is as tough as it gets and I’m glad to help out with the little tidbits here and there. This site is free and provides you with a SEO friendly profile which includes a dofollow link back to your realtor website. The site is easy to navigate and doesn’t have too many people in it so far, so take advantage early while the getting is good. I’ve taken a screenshot of a profile so you can get an idea of what’s going on there. The highlighted blue colors are dofollow links, red are nofollow, and you can see where you get your link within the profile.

LinkVoodoo Backlink Analyzer Update

February 23  |  Link Building Tools  |   Ryan Clark

Just a little update on the latest updates on our SEO Tools and what we’ve got implemented, as well what we’ve got coming in the coming 10 days(or so). First up I’d like to let everyone know about the updates we’ve made to the instructions on how to use the backlink analyzer. Some people have been confused with getting the launch.php to run, or have just straight up had problems getting it to run. So we’ve added in these instructions seen below, let us know if everything worked fine for you;

We’re hoping this clears things up a little and helps most people run the tool without any problems. We’re also working on getting a feedback system in place that will archive users questions, and our answers. We’re also thinking of adding in a forum sooner than later so people can discuss any problems with the tool, and with link building in general. The next update we added this week was the addition of the dofollow and nofollow reporting on all the links. You can see them tallied up at the top right, as well the reporting within the link list you get once you’ve run the software.

This is the key numbers list that gives you a quick tally of the numbers that are most important, and now as you can see they’re including the do/nofollow count. From here you can see which links are dofollow or nofollow under each link set for each domain. If you notice any problems with the reporting please let us know so we can make sure everything is running smoothly. We really rely on your feedback to fix issues and make the software better.

Link Building With PicsorLinks.com

February 23  |  Link Building  |   Ryan Clark

I’ve just run across this really cool social media site called PicsorLinks.com and I’ve been hooked! I know I am a link builder and a lot of sites hate to see me coming, but this one I’ve been using for fun without a thought of work…yet. This site could be seen as a few different things, a blog, a pictures sharing site and or a video sharing site or all of the above. You’ll quickly get the idea the first time you visit and you’ll not only waste some time browsing the interesting stuff people are posting, but most likely have something fun to share as well.

Now once you’ve spent some time signing up and browsing about, start to take notice of the different ways of link building and marketing you can do with this site. First off all the links within you post are dofollow, so take note of the type of content on here before putting up some crap. This site is geared towards entertainment and news, so not everyone will be able to use this service without coming off as a spammer. So not only is their link building, you can also promote something with a really good video or picture to make the post stand out. This service is pretty new so there isn’t much link juice now, but I can see this site gaining a lot of popularity quickly in the near future. So remember to put up great unique content, and please do not go and spam this great service.
