Link Building With Gabbr.com

I’ve been playing around with Gabbr.com lately and finally got around to posting about the site. Gabbr is a web 2.0 news, social bookmarking and networking tool that makes all these features great for finding like minded content and users. If you have good content you’ll really enjoy using this service because it encourages you to share you blog content in many ways. First up it lets you input your RSS feed which provides dofollow links, second you can submit individual blog posts or articles which are also dofollow and listed on your public profile. Gabbr has 16,000+ user pages indexed in Google so it looks like this service is picking up nicely! These features allow you to also get related news and eventually network socially to find like minded people in your niche. Another feature that takes Gabbr ahead of the rest is “attention based tracking” which monitors popular content throughout its network. I’ve quickly setup a page although the RSS feed option was giving me PHP errors at the present time, but take a look at my profile to see what I’m talking about. If you’re ready to participate head on over to the join page.

Website Promotion
Instead of having multiple blogs across multiple sites, Gabbr allows bloggers from all types of blogs to submit their blog entries for discussion in a centralized location. The blog entries are also mirrored on the original blog authors website. This cross promotion leads to an increase in the readership of all participating weblogs. The aim is to break down traditional online media barriers while creating constructive online communities. If your blogsite has its own RSS or Atom feed you can submit it to Gabbr so that others can read it thereby increasing the distribution of your site’s content.

Build Links & Authority By Going Mobile Compatible

November 26  |  Link Building  |   Ryan Clark

This post is to go with the related article called Link Building For Your .Mobi Site Or App. The mobile revolution is under way and if you don’t keep up you’re going to miss out on a whole avenue of readers. Making your website mobile compatible adds not only value to the overall quality of your site, it allows your readers to obtain important information on the go. I don’t know for certain that having a mobile version of your website will help you rank any better on its own, but with a little work you can definitely build some links from a completely new link stream that’s emerging. I’ve incorporated a new plugin to make Linkbuildr compatible, and I’ll list below other tools that will help your platform be mobile ready for your readers.

Mowser Plugin For WordPress:

Download: Mowser Version 2.5

Mowser (http://mowser.com) includes a service that allows publishers to display their existing web content to users on mobile phones and other handheld devices. This plugin detects when a user is on a mobile phone and automatically redirects them to the Mowser optimized version of the page they were trying to access.

MobilePress For WordPress:

Download: MobilePress 1.0.3

MobilePress is a WordPress plugin that will render your WordPress blog on mobile handsets, with the ability to use customized themes. The plugin also allows specific themes for specific devices / mobile browsers, such as iPhone, Opera Mini, Windows CE Mobile and other generic handset browsers.

The plugin also allows WordPress theme developers to create custom mobile themes for WordPress blogs using the MobilePress plugin. Therefore, theme designers can create specific iPhone themes or generic themes. Think of MobilePress as an enabler for WordPress on mobile.

MobilePress also features Mobile SEO which detects Google and Yahoo mobile search bots. These mobile search bots will see the mobile version of you blog which allows your blog to optimized and indexed on Google and Yahoo mobile search.

Wphone For WordPress:

Download: Wphone 1.4.2

Looking to manage your WordPress install via your phone? Then the award winning WPhone plugin is exactly what you need. It creates an option while logging in to replace the default admin interface with one designed for your phone

WordPress For iPhone:

Download: WordPress For iPhone 1.1

https://videopress.com/v/GyIzZkju

PDA For Joomla:
Download: PDA For Joomla 1.5

It’s a little more work to get this working on your Joomla site than it is for a WordPress blog, but this seems to be one of the better options. If anyone tries this one out please let me know in the comments if it works out at all anymore because I don’t keep up with Joomla.

Accessibility Module For Drupal:
Download: Accessibility Module 1.x

The Accessibility Module allows hand-held devices access to a correctly formatted web site specifically made for mobile browsers from one code base. This means that the site owner does not need to create separate versions of the site. With basic device detection this module selects the correct “theme” to use and generates content accordingly. The content is also broken down into smaller chunks making download on a phone, for example, faster and the site should be easier to use.

So once you have the mobility for all your users you can start to build links for your main domain as well give your site one more feature that will help make your website stand out much more within your niche. Remember to read the post Link Building For Your .Mobi Site Or App as well keep your eye out for ways to build links because you’re mobile compatible.

Vimeo’s Link Building Strategy

November 24  |  Link Building  |   Ryan Clark

I’ve become a big fan of Vimeo lately and plan on making it a home to the Link Building Podcast as well as Youtube and IM Broadcast. There have been a lot of video hosting sites launched but Vimeo has managed to become a leader of the pack and I’d like to look a little more into that reason. Before I get into that I’d like to declare I may not be 100% accurate with my theory but I’ll present some good evidence as to why and how they’ve used link building to gain some momentum.

First up we have to take a look at their site design as well as the Vimeo player to see why they have got an edge. I’ve rarely seen such well thought out web design such as their’s, and I’ve never liked pastel so much. The video player both embedded and on site looks crisp and neat, especially when you look at Youtube’s or Metacafe…they’re just plain ugly. Vimeo has established itself as a place to host high quality video in both realms of production and quality so it makes a great place for a professional to showcase work.

So how does link building come into play? Well recently I’ve noticed they’ve made the links on embedded videos do follow and it is helping(I believe) in a big way. Because the quality and content Vimeo usually showcases it seems they’re able to gain a large amount of quality links across quality blogs and websites. A lot of other video hosting sites are not doing this and if you take a quick look at their Alexa and the number of backlinks they have apposed to a few of their competitors;

Now I’m aware that the traffic growth is mainly due to the amazing content that has been going viral, but as we’ll see next they’ve been gaining massive amounts of links quickly, and since I last checked a week ago, they’re up over 50,000 backlinks! The data listed next was used with Yahoo’s Site Explorer so keep that in mind. I only used these few video sites to compare because I’ve felt they were all started up within the same time frame and seem to be competing for the more “technically gifted” market share;

Website: Backlinks:

Vimeo.com            181,140

Blip.tv                  129,405

Revver                 96,355

Viddler.com           36,824

Well I don’t like to see myself on camera much but you folks now get the idea of what I’m talking about. See how the links are done out below the video, turn on your SEO browser plugin to make sure they’re do follow and start to think. This setup could work very nicely to your advantage, especially if you were trying to rank a video for a keyword you would otherwise have no chance in tackling right away. If 200 people embed your video you’ll be able to build your clients through the video marketing which can be very successful, depending on what you’re doing. Now think within your niche, you could provide something to embed which builds links for you which lets you kind of sit back and enjoy.

Inlinks.com Launched By MediaWhiz…I’m Staying Away

November 20  |  Link Building, News, Paid Links  |   Ryan Clark

I just wanted to get a discussion going on MediaWhiz’s new product Inlinks.com. I didn’t need long to figure out this will go poorly for advertisers no matter what. The business model will work great for them, but not for long until Google figures out a way to start dropping the ban hammer. Google is clear on paying for links to influence the search results, which in reality just clutters the web with shitty sites that keep you from finding what you want. So how many of you will actually consider trying something like this out?

What’s New On Linkbuildr

November 19  |  News  |   Ryan Clark

Well it has been a slow couple days for great posts, but I’ve managed to create over 17 drafts of new posts that will be coming out over the next week or two…and they’re gunna be great. I’m hoping to get some good discussions out with some of the articles as well set apart this blog from the others within the link building community.I’d like to thank every one for the kind comments and support I’ve gotten from readers and companies within the link building community…it keeps me going!

First up I have started mapping out my link building services which I’m now offering more to the general public. I generally work with only a few clients every couple of months because I’m mainly working on my own projects which I can rely on for income. But lately I’ve been wanting to sink my teeth into other new projects and let me stuff sit on autopilot. So take a look at the page which is linked at the top of the page and let me know what you think about my prices, grammar mistakes or whatever else!

I’ve been working solely on Ubuntu which is all fine and dandy because I’ve been using Linux since I was 13, its just that I’m used to doing my video editing magic with Sony Vegas but instead I’ve been learning Cinelerra. It’s an open source video editing suite that is about the best and only choice I have with Linux, so it’s taking me a little more time to get the podcast in order. To top that all off Linux has one of the worst track records for MIC input and sound recording so naturally I’m having trouble recording the audi for the screencast portions of the podcast. I’ve been reviewing the Raven SEO Tools for the first episode and I need to get my ass in gear to get it all together.

Tomorrow I get to visit the office that houses the Infobarrel crew and I’ll be recording more podcast stuff with them on site. They live about an hour from me so I’ll be loading up my iPod and heading out the door first thing in the moring, hopefully in time to make sure they get no work done for the day! If anyone missed my post on the site I suggest you check it out because this site is moving!

I cleaned up the ad block on the right as you may have noticed, and took out all the advertising from companies I don’t use, or would ever recommend to a client. This should provided a smoother reading experience and if you see advertising on here now, it’s stuff I’m using and very proud to be using. I’m going to be opening up an actual job board on here in hopes of adding more quality link building resources for the community.

The Link Building Forums are slowly kicking with a couple of members every few days, but I need more people to join up and help start the community. I want to make this a place of total link building orgasmic reading and conversing. A lot of the forums these days are filled with repeat questions(cough DPF cough) and information which is starting to drive me nuts. If I see a post titled “how do I build links with blogs” etc you know I’ll be bringing down the ban hammer! I’ve created many different sections which should help bring out unique discussions and tactics to your everyday link building routine.

This week we’ve got a quick and dirty Whiteboard Friday about how to make use of all of those social media profiles you’ve been building. The trick: don’t let them sit idle! You’ve got to network them a little in order for them to do you any good (read: links and rank).
