Real Estate Link Building With Student Housing

May 14  |  Niche Link Building  |   Ryan Clark

This is just a quick little real estate link building tip agents can think about, and hopefully put into action for their website. Getting .EDU links is always held higher in the minds of SEO`s and webmasters, while this is mostly true, keep in mind why they`re sought after. Because with that being said, it is very possible to get a low quality link from a .EDU domain. Spammers have ruined a lot of pages within the university space going after open blogs, forums and guest comment forms..the usual. This tip is fresh, can`t be abused by every other niche on the market so I feel it`s worth discussing in public.

I recently helped a real estate agent client of mine get a few links from local universities by offering student housing web services. There are usually many houses open with a lower rent for students, so we created some content to help attract links from the .EDU TLD. The client had a resource center written up with a quick and cool PHP based tool to search for both students and renters. Basically we created a database both users could come and look for places, or submit your student housing resource into the mix. That combined with a huge article knowledge based on student housing resulted in a few juicy links.

So how did we actually get the links? Well, that`s where I came into play and emailed the appropriate departments about the resource. Most universities have a student housing resource section, so look around to see if something in your area exists. I recommend playing around with this Google command to get you started.

Twitter Adds Embeddable Tweets

So the news has hit the web that Twitter is now allowing you to embed a tweet via Twitter…so what does this mean for link building? Well as of right now the Blackbird tool wasn’t working, most likely due to overuse so my testing is limited at this time. I’m hoping to get your folks commenting about this, so anyone who has tested out this feature let me know. You can see from the Mashable article that the link is nofollowed in the embed, but who knows how this will be affected on other sites, or if it will remain always nofollow. Regardless it is a link, and it will open the world up to a whole whack of link building opportunities…exciting times folks!

Link Builders Toolkit For Your Business

April 27  |  Link Building  |   Ryan Clark

I recently had the pleasure in reviewing Mark Thompsons new link building goldmine for businesses of all sizes. I imagine Mark’s target market are the smaller to medium sized businesses who don’t have the budget for a consultant, or in house SEO. Instead, if you have sometime and Internet know-how, you’ll be able to kick off a pretty damn impressive link building campaign all on your own.

This toolkit is designed to make link building a straight forward process with an easy to follow system that you can manage on your down time. I’d recommend setting a goal for doing only so many tasks per day, getting in done in the mornings, your lunch hour or after hours. After a couple months your site should be dominating the local search market, your niche or whatever you’re going after.

What I really like about the toolkit is the diversity. You get the usual good stuff like directories, bookmarking sites, PR sites, coupon sites and SO much more. The second best part? All of it has been filtered for quality so you know you’re not wasting your time submitting to low end websites.

  • Over 160 Blog Directories (Download the Blog Directories Tab for Free!)
  • Over 30 Classified Sites
  • Over 100 Content Sharing Sites
  • Over 80 Coupon/Deal Sites
  • Over 400 Directories
  • Over 40 eBook Sites
  • Over 25 Event Sites
  • Over 30 Forum Sites
  • Over 50 Local Sites
  • Over 40 Photo Sharing Sites
  • Over 35 Podcast Sites
  • Over 300 PR/Article Submission Sites
  • Over 35 Q&A Communities
  • Over 65 Review Sites
  • Over 60 RSS Submission Sites
  • Over 50 Social Bookmarking Sites
  • Over 50 Social Community Sites
  • Over 45 Shopping Sites
  • Over 35 Twitter Sites
  • Over 35 Video Sharing Sites
  • Over 60 Free Website Creation Sites
  • Over 15 Wiki Sites

As you can see this is a killer list that will take some time to complete.  I highly recommend taking the time to put the effort into your link building time here, and make sure to create quality content to spread around. A lot of these link building methods will require the content, so be prepared to factor that into either cost or time on your behalf. When you think about it, it’s still WAY cheaper than hiring me or another consultant.

Conan + Twitter Office = Linkbait Wet Dream

I just read about how Conan O Brian dropped in on the Twitter HQ’s in San Francisco earlier this morning, and it got me thinking. Can you imagine if you had access to this kind of viral marketing? I’m going to be watching closely what impact this has on not only Mashable, but Twitter link wise. I’m really interested to see how many links this will net them in a 24-48 hour period, what do you folks think? I would be a happy man to not have to worry about link building with this kind of networking going on, so is this making any of you think?

I imagine if you’re in the local search market, even a little interview with a local celebrity would go a long way in your linking efforts. This is the type of marketing I like to see happen for a few reasons. This isn’t costing them any money, your users do the link building for you and you’ll even enjoy some branding in the process. Last but not least, you’re also doing something your competitors most likely cannot copy. That marketing, and those links will be a wicked asset to your online ranking efforts and keep the competitor’s in your dust.

BuzzStream is a must have tool for any search marketing consultant out there, never mind us link builders. With that being said, they now have some really cool new backlink analysis tools on the market. I was quite pleased to see how they`re actively monitoring certain key elements if your link campaign, a feature which most other tools are not doing. BuzzStream now emails you on changes such as when a link goes from followed to nofollow. This is just the next step of total link management and if you`re in a heated niche, this information is going to give you the advantage. I can also see this being used to monitor your competitors as well…oh the possibilities!

  • Changes to the page it is linking
  • Changes to nofolllow/dofollow status
  • Changes to anchor text
  • Changes to the number of outbound links on the pages

April 21  |  Link Building  |   Ryan Clark

I just wanted to let anyone and everyone in my hometown of Vancouver BC Canada about my local services. I work with a few clients here and would love to work with more. I do travel on site out of town, but it would be nice to get the chance to help local businesses succeed in a tough marketplace. The marketplace here is booming, and with the 2010 Olympics come and gone the economy is still speeding along. I’ve done a lot of Hotel SEO for local clients and I cannot believe the global response, especially from China. I cannot tell you how hard it is to do SEO and link build for the Chinese language, that and of course Japanese. Those are just some of the strategies and borders we’ve had to hurdle for our clients.

We utilize advanced, high quality link building and social media marketing tactics to dominate the local search market. We also plan, adapt and attack the global search world to maximize your ROI. We can also help your business reach out to the local community and connect with your customers online and now in real time. With the ability to work within a meeting distance allows for a more fruitful experience. Our only goal is to make sure your business gets its voice heard within the Vancouver search area, or anywhere within beautiful British Columbia.
