Gwazu.com Makes Twitter Contests A Breeze

Our team has been handling a lot of contests lately in the social media realm, so when a new tool comes out we’re always thankful. Getting followers to your social media channels are more important than ever, and we have an inkling that it’s going to be even more crucial by the end of 2011. Marketing a contest by Twitter is so easy that not doing one is just plain crazy. Gwazu.com has recently come onto the radar of our team not only for its contest marketing ability, but to enter random give-aways when we’re bored. I thought we’d take a quick look at what makes this web app tick, and hopefully persuade some brands to start using their platform.

The first thing I’ll mention is the complete ease of entering a contest from the consumers point of view. As long as you’re logged into your Twitter account, you just need to click the enter contest button and you’re done. It doesn’t get any easier than that! This should really entice companies and brands to jump on board and utilize their platform. Those ReTweets should be nice and handy in getting a lot of exposure, and play things right so that people are funneled to your Facebook Page.

Getting your contest listed here for now just requires a simple email and a reading of their rules. Gwazu’s aim is to alert the world about the biggest and best social media contests, so I don’t recommend coming to them with a measly $10 gift card to Mcdonalds…although I’d most likely sign up for that! You can also pay to advertise in their featured contest spot which is top dead center, schmack dab in the middle! So what are you waiting for? Get on that social media contest your brand has been dying to do before it’s too late!

Jaxified.com Makes Social Media Tracking Easy

While the social web grows uncontrollably just like the normal web has done, there is too much to do and too much to track. How much statistical data can one take? Well, just a little more thanks to Jaxified.com. I’ve been utilizing a few different methods of tracking our Facebook Likes and ReTweets from across the digital landscape, and recently we’ve been running the free trial from this neat little web app. To me, the URL shortener, ReTweets and FB Likes are nearly the same as a link. so wouldn’t it would be great to know just exactly how many you’re getting to your content?

The feature you’ll also find a huge bonus to this social tracking system is its ability to track trends from blogs in your industry. Jaxified can measure not only your blog, but blogs in your field so you see how their content is performing. so you can spot trending topics and write better content. It can find breaking viral stories and show you who the key influencer’s are for each post and conversation. This is huge for identifying what’s going on in real time and interact as the buzz is taking place…brilliant!

There are a whole slough of other features within their platform, so I highly recommend checking out the demo for a good look. The pricing plans are well affordable, and any business serious about their social presence should be looking into a tool like this. The more time you can save, the more knowledge you have, the better off your company or business will be in the long run. If anyone out there has used Jaxified, lets hear what you think and especially if its helping your business.

Get Listed With Company.com

March 10  |  Link Building  |   Ryan Clark

It has been a while since we’ve dropped an actual link building tip, so how about we finally give everyone something to work with? A lot of past tips just ended up getting spammed to death, so this is a good reason we stopped dropping linking tips. We will however give you folks a bone if there is something industry specific, or a moderated site that won’t end up in the spam bin. Today that website in question is Company.com, and they’re more than just a link building resource. I’m pleased to see what they’re doing with the site overall, and you can bet this social business platform is going places in 2011.

While it has been a mediocre year in growth for the site, it seems it is also the first this platform was deployed on the domain. The 2.0 revolution has brought on all sorts of new age business directories, but few are as nicely designed and thought out as this one. The only other company database I can think of that even comes close is Manta. I created our Company.com profile rather quickly as of today, so it isn’t the prettiest, but it does give you an idea what you can do on this powerhouse of a social network.

Besides getting your business page listed with them( which includes links), there is a whole whack of cool stuff you can do here. I’ll start by saying business networking opportunities are a plenty, and the questions & answers section is fully interactive. They have an articles section that is written by their team, but hopefully they’ll open it up to quality writers from companies listed on their site. I don’t see why they wouldn’t do this because it’s a great way to have amazing people write great content. All in all, you don’t want to miss out from listing your business with Company.com!

Google Panda(Farm) Update Help Roundup

March 10  |  News  |   Ryan Clark

The Google Panda/Farm update has been cleaning up the crap, filtering the high quality and still leaving a blender of scraped, low quality content all over the top 10 rankings. While the first bit of time after any big update usually leaves many with headaches, there are solutions and changes in the works. Google has already acknowledged that tons of quality sites caught wrongly f$%^!ed over, but as time ticks on this isn’t going to do for some. We’ve gladly made it through, and any of the “dupe” content we may have doesn’t teeter over the 20% mark, so phew!

I do what I can with my spare time to help people out in Google’s Webmaster Forum, and I’m seeing a ton of big name sites coming up with issues. It usually ends in speculation from too many ill-informed consultants and SEO weekend warriors, so I feel for the people seeking true help. This has inspired me to do what we can and round up all the good info on the Panda update for people seeking questions, help and answers. I would be more than happy to have you folks drop some links I missed in the comments that are helpful because I won’t catch them all.

google panda farm update

First up we’ll start with the most useful and resourceful posts that came from the greatest minds in the SEO field. So many great people did a lot of research, great writing and the outcome was more than amazing. It also saved us from having to jump on the bandwagon and try and make sense of it all…for some this update sure didn’t make a whole lot of sense!

Google Panda Update Analysis & Research:

Kristi Hines beat us to the punch with a much better job…I was half way through this post until I noticed her write-up. So while I had to erase a thousand words or so, I’ll just lock it up after this and link her post which sums it all up. Kristi is from the marketing firm Vertical Measures, most of you most likely know that already but they’re awesome so they deserve another link from us.

Chrysler Drops F-Bomb Via Twitter

March 9  |  Brand Building  |   Ryan Clark

While some people would be offended to hear the F-word, most of us hear it on a daily basis so it’s no big deal really. When it comes to branding and watching what you say on behalf of your company, then that’s a different story. While it looked like the social media team for Chrysler may have accidentally dropped the F-bomb via their Twitter profile, it now is a case of being hacked…or at least that’s what they say. Regardless I’m all for it! While a few people will scoff at what has happened, the rest of the web is quick to talk about it on Twitter, Facebook and of course blogs. This means the links are pouring in and it’s a nice little bit of exposure for Chrysler.

So far I haven’t heard much of a negative response, but I’m sure Chrysler is doing all it can to make sure their image isn’t tarnished. If anything is learned here, and you have a slip up via social media like this then you can instantly claim you were hacked and begin an easy clean up process. Either way, the auto company will enjoy a couple days of buzz before the entire world forgets all about it…kinda like when they a launch a new car(zing!).

Luxury Real Estate Marketing Opportunity

February 22  |  Niche Link Building  |   Ryan Clark

I’ve been working on a few guest blog posts for our real estate marketing month so I only have a small post again for everyone here today. Since this month we’ve had a lot of inquiries to do marketing for real estate agents which is great, and optimally the end goal here. We have also made some cool friends within the industry, all of which are working on some unique projects. Todays is a socially powered content site called the Luxury Real Estate Magazine, which explains itself really. They’re launching in beta mode this week so I said I’d give them a mention and let the real estate agents out there know they can start using it for free! You can also read our interview where I ramble on about luxury real estate marketing in 2011.

The has some goals in mind, and currently the advertising is 100% free for real estate agents, home owners and interior designers. If you’re involved within the luxury homes market, then this site wants and needs you to help it grow. As of now, you can submit a guest blog post, get your property on the featured listing, get your property listed in the blog, get an interview like I did, submit a press release and a few other options. I really like the idea behind the site and I hope it takes off, but again, it will need the agents and home owners to help grow it all the while getting some free promotion. To get the party started, you can follow them socially via the usual suspects;

Nissan GT-R Marketing In Germany: Porsche Owners Beware

February 21  |  Brand Building  |   Ryan Clark

While it seems we’re going to get a lot of branding posts crossed with cars, mainly due to my bias and I’m the only one who writes for the blog so too bad! We do however get to see a lot of clever marketing within this industry, well clever everywhere but North America. With that being said, Nissan wanted to do something special to ignite the GT-R passion in the hearts of Porsche owners. This turned out to be something they managed to do quite easily and in a rather ingenious way might I add. I’ll let the video do the talking, but hopefully you learn a few guerrilla marketing lessons from the fine folks at Nissan.
