One of my clients refered me to Arkayne which is a Widget that finds and connects relevant content between your blog and what your readers want to see. I’m going to be giving it a try on here for a week and see if it makes a difference. Since this blog is relatively new, I should be able to easily see how effective this strategy is. The WordPress plugin for the Arkayne widget includes a complete control panel for every widget option. From the panel you can adjust everything from text, color, size, to link counts, similarity limits, and link categories. Download The Plugin.

I just discovered Read Burner as a new place to drop relevant links. It looks like Pligg, and smells like Pligg, but it isn’t. Read Burner analysis current hot topics and trends based on certain factors and the latest news gets spat out to the site. If you want to see what kind of topics and sites are making the rounds they provide open stats you can view. For all your folks with nice phones you can view a mobile version as well which is what I’ve been tuning into all day from my iPhone.

ReadBurner (www.readburner.com) analyzes what people are sharing with their personal social networks on a variety of services to determine the best content across the Web. With an increasing amount of news consumption taking place in RSS readers and personalized start pages versus traditional web sites, ReadBurner aggregates the most frequently shared content from these next generation services to determine what’s popular.

Faviki is a pr6 social bookmarking site that allows you to tag pages with Wikipedia terms( Semantic Tags). This means that everybody uses the same names for tags from the world’s largest collection of knowledge. So what are Semantic Tags? semantic tags represent references to unique concepts that have their own URL. This solves the problem of having different tags for the same concept, which is the case with good old regular tags. Faviki is 100% free and you need to sign up before posting.

WordPress Plugins For Link Building

August 19  |  Internal Link Building, Wordpress SEO  |   Ryan Clark

WordPress has a few great plugins that will help with link building to external resources, but also help build internal links within your blog. Google has recently released official tips for optimizing your link structure on page to improve spidering and indexing. I always like to mention that you send me your links/plugins/advice and I will gladly write about it or add it to the post. WordPress continues to dominate the blogosphere and as you can tell, is easily my favorite CMS.

First up is the brand new plugin called “Internal Link Building” developed by the folks at SEO ROI. I’ve been using aLinks to accomplish some of what this plugin does, but the new one surpasses any in its path. The best feature is that you can set custom links within the post that won’t effect the entire site. You can download the plugin here.

WP-DeliciousPost is a plugin I don’t leave home without. It automatically adds every blog post to your del.icio.us account…pretty sweet eh? The plugin’s homepage says it has been now merged with a new link tool suite called WPLinkTools, but I couldn’t find the homepage anywhere. So if anyone know’s where to get this, comment away. You can download the plugin here.

Yet Another Related Posts Plugin is a great plugin to keep your readers browising around, but allowing the spiders to keep your content freshly indexed. The latest 2.0 version makes use of the tags and categories to bring the reader the most related posts.

Finally Eli from Blue Hat SEO has released a very nifty little plugin called PingCrawl. This powerful took gets WordPress blogs deep links automatically on every post you make. I’ve been modding the code a little myself and this is a really intersting tool that could be used in so many ways.

Blackhats Are Using Mashable.com For Top SERPs

August 18  |  Black Hat  |   Ryan Clark

I spent the evening writing a bunch of new posts for tomorrow and eventually crashed and burned. I’ve been watching Seinfeld while browsing competitive keywords to see how the black hats are gaming Google. I did a quick scan for the top listings in Canada and the US and notice this link in the top 10 http://my.mashable.com/andy379. A quick search of that URL minus the http:// and you’ll see the typical handy work of Xrumer.

I’ve seen this member profile technique a bunch of PHPBB forums, but this is the first time I’ve seen Mashable used. I can’t imagine they will let this kind of nonsense to go on, but hey it gives me a good look into what’s going on. I followed the link in the profile and then checked to see what other domains were lurking on the same host. Well needless to say this person likes his Viagra :)

Now just incase you’re thinking, yes those links on the profile page are no follow, so there isn’t a real point of spamming good ol Mashable. I don’t quite get why they do this because they have to keep repeating this back link spamming process for a mere 2-5 days of ranking. Slow and steady wins the race folks…
